Bratislava, home to approximately 450,000 inhabitants and located on the left bank of the Danube, is a young capital city – the youngest in Europe, in fact. Throughout the old town, you’ll see traces of the Austro-Hungarian Empire wherever you go. This leisurely city of baroque and rococo, palaces and palisades, and art and coffee houses is a perfect place to wander around, marvel at impressive sights, relax and unwind.
Excursion stop. Krems an der Donau is not far from the Austrian capital of Vienna. The city is part of the Wachau, a stretch of the Danube valley and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your Danube cruise will take you through Krems, passing through the Wachau on the way to and from Vienna.
Excursion stop. A visit to Melk, the ‘Gateway to the Wachau’, brings you to the Danube Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can marvel at glorious landscapes.
