A-ROSA Flussschiff GmbH is one of Europe's leading premium European River Cruise companies, offering cruises on the Danube, Douro, Rhône/Saône, Rhine/Main/Moselle and Seine.
The company operates offices in Rostock, Chur (Switzerland) and Cardiff (Great Britain) and currently employs around 850 people from 25 different nations.
A-ROSA was founded in 2000 and began operating in 2002, initially with two ships on the Danube. The company responded to the increasing demand for river cruises by steadily expanding its fleet and travel areas. Today, the recognisable fleet consists of 15 modern ships that meet the latest safety and environmental standards.
The Managing Director of the A-ROSA Flussschiff GmbH is Chief Executive Officer Rolf-Dieter Maltzahn. Markus Zoepke, who has been on board since 2003, is Chairman of the Management Board of A-ROSA Reederei GmbH. In addition to the British main shareholder Duke Street, which has held the majority of company shares since 2018, Markus Zoepke and the former A-ROSA CEO Jörg Eichler are also shareholders in A-ROSA.
In the coming years, the company's premium positioning and quality leadership will be further strengthened by investments in the areas of product innovation, sustainability, marketing and sales. To continue a growth path in the core business, the focus is on the construction of new vessels and expansion to include new destinations. Therefore, the new A-ROSA SENA joined the fleet in June 2022. The innovative E-Motion ship is hybrid-powered and has a battery storage unit, which enables virtually emission-free and noiseless mooring in the most beautiful cities along the northern Rhine. Thanks to all innovative technologies, the A-ROSA SENA won 1st place at the 2022 German Awards for Sustainability Projects in the category "Service – Transportation" and the Cruise Guide Award (Kreuzfahrt Guid Award) as ‘River Ship of the Year 2023’.
